About

Hi,

I’m Janne Pihlajaniemi — find me on LinkedIn — welcome to my corner of the internet!

Rowan Point is a translation of my surname; Pihlaja = rowan tree and niemi is a peninsula or point. It’s a surname given to my family when Finland decided to do a census and my family must have been living on a point where rowan trees grew.

My blog exists at the intersection of technology, systems, leadership, and the messy reality of being human in the middle of rapid change.

I write about AI, decision-making, product thinking, organizational behavior, and the uncomfortable gap between what technology promises and how people actually experience it. Some of that comes from years spent around software, technical leadership, and complex systems. The rest comes from watching how quickly the world changes when tools become more capable than our habits, incentives, or institutions are prepared for.

I am less interested in hype than in consequences. Less interested in predicting the future than in understanding what becomes harder, more valuable, or more human because of it.

Rowan Point is not a news site or a collection of growth hacks. It is a place for long-form thinking about leverage, responsibility, creativity, incentives, and adaptation in an era shaped by AI.

Some articles are practical. Some are philosophical. Most are attempts to make sense of systems that increasingly shape all of us, whether we notice them or not.

If that sounds interesting, you will probably feel at home here.
